Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Eating Disorders (EDs): Co-morbidity and treatment implications.
Description
Co-morbidity of ADHD and eating disorders (ED) has been identified in national surveys. Furthermore, overlaps in response to treatment have been observed; for example, reductions of binge eating symptoms for ADHD patients treated with stimulants.
However, there have been no large-scale studies of psychological interventions in co-morbid ADHD and ED. This project aims to broaden the understanding of the relationship between ADHD and ED for targeted prevention, early diagnosis and novel treatments.
The proposed project could include a systematic review, large-scale screening study of young adults (aged 18-25) coupled with qualitative research with stakeholders and a feasibility intervention study
