Assessing the Value of History in Understanding the Recent Rise of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Problems in the UK
Description
The UK currently faces what some describe as a crisis of child and adolescent mental health. The historical basis for such claims is surprisingly undeveloped. This PhD will: i) provide a history that situates the recent crisis in context; ii) examine the historical basis for claims of a rise in child and adolescent mental health problems, and in doing so locate, assimilate, and critically interrogate past research and evidence so as to fashion a body of information that can be useful to researchers in the field today; and iii) explore and assess the value of such data in understanding the nature and cause of changes to child and adolescent mental health.
