Evaluation of a supported self-management intervention for people living with a chronic condition
People with long-term physical health conditions more likely to experience mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression. Co-morbid mental health outcomes impact negatively on clinical outcomes and quality of life and have wide social and economic consequences. However, detection of co-morbid mental health problems and the provision of support for the psychological aspects of physical illness is variable.
This research could explore the psychological aspects of any long-term condition (e.g., psychological wellbeing, self-management challenges), and/or design and evaluate an intervention or approach to supporting self-management and positive mental wellbeing (e.g., through behaviour change, healthy lifestyle intervention, education, psychological support and coping).
