Mental health and wellbeing promotion in primary school children
Mental and emotional health problems affect up to 20% of children. These usually persist to adulthood and are associated with negative health and social outcomes. Implementation of universal school based interventions can promote social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB). A recent review by NICE suggests there is variation in how these programmes are implemented and a 2018 Department of Education review concluded research is needed to explore the strength of the evidence for school programmes, and to understand enablers to effective implementation.
This project will offer the opportunity to address some of the research gaps.
