Common mental disorder life-course pattern, evidence and models for prevention and treatment for years lived with better mental health

Common mental disorder refers to depression and anxiety symptoms. Interventional psychiatry has devoted substantial attention to short term treatment. Prevention (narrowly defined as stopping episode onset or more broadly as improving future course in undiagnosed populations) has received far less attention. Psychologically based and medical disease models are both popular. Hardly any attention has been given to quality of long-term outcome (such as years lived in good health, a priority in non-communicable disease research) and survival. The study will review and secondary analyse available study data on life course patterns and make evidenced policy recommendations for future interventional research.
