First-year PhD researcher Lorna Almond was recently awarded runner-up position for her poster presentation at the Annual National Forensic Psychiatry Trainee Conference 2026 in London on 28th May by Professor Pamela Taylor. Her poster presented preliminary findings from a pre-registered systematic review examining the association between childhood maltreatment and conduct disorder.

The work aims to address gaps in understanding the strength and consistency of this association through a three-level random-effects meta-analysis.

Lorna is supervised by Professor Stephane De Brito, Dr Maria Dauvermann (both of University of Birmingham) and Dr John Tully (University of Nottingham). She would also like to thank Joshua Lee (First year PhD student, University of Birmingham) and Nikolai Khutoryanskiy (4th year medical student, University of Nottingham)  for their support as secondary reviewers/screeners.

The prize was sponsored by Crime in Mind, who have also offered to feature the poster in a future blog to share the work with a wider audience.
